Who was the first person you put make up on?
– To be honest I was never that into make-up when growing up. I started helping my friends who were aspiring photographers on their shoots. I did fine art at collage and just thought it would be like painting.
Who have been some of your favorite models, and whom do you have on your wish list?
– I "fall in love" with different faces all the time. It is a great feeling when you get inspired by a girl's features, then the possibilities seem endless and you just want to work with them over and over again. I do not wish for any certain face right now but I would love to work alongside Peter Philips.
How did you arrive at your technique, and what are your tools of choice?
– I learnt a lot about technique from Val Garland whom I assisted when I first started out in the mid 90s. But mostly it has been trial and error. I use a lot of brushes, not sponges, not fingers. I love the Chanel brushes, Shu Uemura lash curlers, Rubis tweezers and the Hakansson Face Oil.
If you could be another person for a day, who would it be and why?
– I think I would choose to be Siri Hustvedt, I would have written one of my own favorite books - What I loved - and I would get to share my life with Paul Auster.
What has been your biggest fashion experience recently?
– Pouring fake blood all over Ann-Sofie Back last week. That was fun.
